Kumi Koda performs private show for 150 couples

Singer Kumi Koda, 27, put on a special show for 150 couples invited to Billboard LIVE in Akasaka on Thursday night to celebrate the release of her new album “BEST~third universe & 8th AL “UNIVERSE.””

Koda, who is performing for her 10th year in 2010, sang four songs, clad in a revealing black dress for the crowd that huddled just two meters from the stage. Koda said it was the first time she had sung so close to her fans, and said she had told herself beforehand she wasn’t going to cry, after being unable to hold back her tears of joy while talking with fans.

When asked about Valentine’s Day, Koda said she would be giving hand-made chocolates and a hand-made scarf to a special someone. Asked about marriage, she said: “I’m always saying I want to get married.”

“BEST~third universe&8th AL “UNIVERSE”” is Koda’s third “best of” album but also includes some new songs, making it her 8th new album at the same time.
