Jay Chou systematically denies rumours at “Pandamen” event

Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou spoke out against the recent rash of rumours about him at an event to promote his science-fiction action drama “Pandamen” event on Saturday.

This was the first he had spoken to the media and his fans at length since wrapping up his television directorial debut in “Pandamen”.

Chou called Taiwanese rapper Dog G, who wrote a song that allegedly insulted his manliness, “scum of society” and called upon close friend Devon Song to continue scolding Dog G as Chou ” not want to dignify Dog G by rebuking him personally”.

Chou, 31, also addressed singer Devin Wu’s admission on popular Taiwanese television talk show “KangXi Arrives” that she gave her virginity to him when she was just 16.

“Has she gone crazy?” said an exasperated Chou.

Chou claims that he only sent Wu, who was a label-mate at the time, home on a few occasions but never dated her. He believes that she only made the statement for the sake of the programme, on the behest of the show’s producers.

He went on to quash rumours that he and old flame Jolin Tsai were planning to get back together after the pair was seen bowling in January this year. The singer lamented that he was in a no-win situation: If he did not contact Tsai, the rumour mill would say they were on bad terms. If he did, people would say they are back together.

Chou even responded to rumours that his friend Zhan Yuhao stole his alleged girlfriend Jessie Chiang and said that Zhan is closer to Chiang than he was in the first place.

“If the rumours were true, Yuhao would not be seated here today,” reasoned Chou.

The past few months have not been kind to Chou. “Pandamen” failed to impress television audiences while a spate of rumours about him put him in the media spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Female Celebrities’ Luck in Comparison~ Ella Prone to Controversies, Xiao S (Dee Hsu)’s Hosting Style Might Spark Disagreement from Viewers

As we usher in the new year of the Tiger, fortune tellers are already busily making predictions on the celebrities. Amongst the female celebrities, most fortune tellers predict that Rainie Yang who recently released her album will benefit from good fortune and her peach blossom luck is strong. On the other end, they also cautioned S.H.E’s member, Ella. Although she will have the best fortune and good luck amongst the trio, she would also be prone to controversial issues. As for Xiao S (Dee Hsu), her good luck will continue from last year but she would have to be careful that her sharp and critical hosting style does not provoke and spark disagreement with the viewers.

Horoscope expert, Vivian Hung’s predictions on female celebrities includes Jolin Tsai, Barbie and Dee Hsu, Rainie Yang, Elva Hsiao and S.H.E. She predicted that the Gemini, Rainie Yang, will enjoy good luck in the coming year as her peach blossom luck is also blooming. However this year will also bring pressure to her. Initially her romance would have stabilized this year, but as her moods will undergo ups and downs, she might end up in a dilemma as to who to choose.

Being a Virgo, Jolin Tsai, having taken a half year break in 2009, will have a balanced year with neither a lot of good or bad luck, and there is a tendency for her to experience good things before the less pleasant things come. Similarly, Elva Hsiao, a Virgo too, has to be careful as she might unintentionally offend others. Meanwhile, for sisters Barbie and Dee Hsu, Vivian predicted that Barbie has to be careful of ‘bad” peach blossom luck. Although she might have short romances, it might be hand for her to tie the knot this year. Dee Hsu, on the other hand, has to be careful of her hosting style in talk shows as viewers might not like it and lead to disagreements.

Recently Ella, who filmed CTV and GTV’s idol drama , was alleged to have had disagreements with the director. While being interviewed, she was upset by the false allegations and even broke down. Thus, Vivian Hung and Li Zhao Yi reminded and cautioned Ella to be careful of the New Year which might bring controversies for her. However Ella will still have the best fortune and good luck amongst the trio. Vivian added, “In descending order of good fortune and luck, the order will be from Ella with the best luck, then Hebe and finally Selina. If they were to go on solo venture, Selina’s luck might be the least favourable!

Double J reconciling? Jolin: No point to this story

Earlier, Jolin Tsai & Jay Chou were rumoured to be on a date at a bowling arena, and this sparked a hot topic of ‘Double J’ reconciling. Yesterday, Jolin attended KKBOX awards ceremony and clarified that the 2 are only friends. When she was asked by media reporters whether she would accept Jay’s pursue again, she expressed firmly: “Impossible, but I really hope he will find his other half soon.”

Meeting up again several years after their break-up, Jolin expressed that the 2 have remained friends. However, that day at the bowling arena was just a coincidence; they did not arrange beforehand: “He’s welcome to join us.” But Jolin feels helpless that it ended up turning into rumours of ‘Double J’ reconciling: “There’s no point to this story, don’t need to believe it.”

Jolin’s sister is about to get married, and Jolin is ecstatic for her, but she is also afraid that she won’t be able to stop crying at the wedding. Jolin’s brother-in-law is rumoured to be extremely wealthy but Jolin doesn’t feel anything towards this, saying that she only found out after reading the news, but her brother-in-law is very good to her sister, which makes her envious.

Is Taiwan idol Eddie dating Jolin? He isn’t spilling

POOR Eddie Peng. The comely- looking Taiwanese actor was positively meek in the glare of the media attention on his promotional visit here last month.

Wearing a plain long-sleeved shirt, conservatively buttoned up to his neck, the 27-year-old boyish one looked like a wide-eyed bunny.

His disposition was a far cry from the cheeky, open-hearted persona he portrayed in the new romantic comedy Hear Me, which opens in cinemas today.

In the romcom – Taiwan’s highestgrossing film last year, which earned NT$30 million (S$1.3 million) – he plays Tian Kuo, a carefree young man in love with Yang Yang (played by Chen Yihan), a strong-willed lass who has to take care of her hearing-impaired sister.

Peng’s guarded air was a tell-tale sign that he knew he had to face questions about kissing – specifically regarding a kissing scene with Chen in the film, and also about kissing his rumoured real-life paramour, Taiwanese pop queen Jolin Tsai.

‘Is this question a joke?’ asked Peng with a pained expression.

Lucky for him, his minder interjected and urged reporters to move on to other non-romantic terrain.

And so my paper ventured to ask him about the state of his legal troubles instead – he is reportedly knee-deep in a long drawn-out lawsuit with his former manager, Liu Wei Ci, over contractual issues.

Peng’s face turned beetroot red. Once again, the minder stepped in to say that reporters ‘cannot ask these questions’.

Thankfully, he found himself on safer ground when asked about his character in Hear Me.

For his role, Peng had to communicate in sign language for two thirds of the film. The guy attended sign language classes daily for two months.

‘It was quite challenging, like learning a new language that you are unfamiliar with,’ he said, perking up.

In fact, interacting with the hearing-impaired made him realise how lucky he is, he added.

Later, after the interview, Peng came up to this reporter and apologised for not being able to answer the trickier questions posed to him.

‘I’m really sorry that I couldn’t answer some of your questions. Some things are a bit difficult to say now. I hope you understand,’ he said earnestly.

How can we not, when faced with such a sweetheart?

Elva Hsiao inherits $10 million

Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao’s mother passed away on New Year’s Day, and a grief-stricken Elva has found it almost impossible to deal with the situation. She was still unable to sleep after crying for 44 hours, and had to resort to taking sleeping pills in order to get some needed sleep. She will not contact her father in compliance with her mother’s wishes.

Elva and her younger brother have been busy organizing her mother’s funeral and says she cannot face the media at the moment due to her tumulous emotions; as a result, some of her new years events may be cancelled. Elva and her brother will inherit their mother’s fortune, approximated near 10 million TWD, or 25 million HKD, which includes the late Mrs. Hsiao’s marriage gift for her daughter, a huge mansion.

Having lost a parent (father) himself, Show Luo understands Elva’s emotions and has been texting her since the incident, hoping that she will grow stronger. Jolin Tsai has also contacted Elva’s manager to express her condolences.
